Learn the art of Fair Isle knitting using the continental method, and then steek it in the afternoon! All at our beautiful shop set inside a 17th century barn, in Braintree.
Juliet Bernard (Knitting Designer and founder of The Knitter magazine) help you take the eek out of steek in this full day workshop.
You will knit a mug cosy using the Fair Isle technique and learn continental knitting so that you will be able to improve your Fair Isle technique.
You will then learn how to prepare the steek before cutting your knitting and finishing your mug cosy off.
This technique can then be used on all sorts of projects - including knitting colourwork cardigans in the round (knit it in one and then steek and cut to get the perfect colourwork match on both sides!)
You must be able to knit, purl, cast on and cast off and comfortably work with DPNs.
Bring your favourite 4mm needles!
All materials as well as tea/coffee and of course cake will be provided.
Please bring your order confirmation with you to the class.
Contact us if you have any questions or want more information before booking your place.

What a great day. I already knit the continental way, however the English knit stitch challenged me. As Juliet cut into her work I took an intake of breath! Now I know how to steek I am going to give it a try. Please book Juliet again. All the staff at Sconch looked after us so well. A fantastic day.
