Double-pointed needles with a twist - or flexibility rather! The latest way to knit socks.
The double-pointed knitting needles have a short section of cord in the middle of each one, allowing it to bend
With this 3-piece set of flexible sock knitting needles even really small diameter pieces can be knitted very easily. For knitting in the round, the stitches are distributed over two needles and the third needle is used for knitting - meaning only two needle changes per row.
Designed by ADDI, these needles were based on an idea by Sylvie Rasch, hence the name CraSyTrio.

Short row heels are a breeze on these, just split your stitches with half on each of 2 needles. You can knit heel flaps by placing one third of the stitches on one needle and the rest on the other.

If, like me, you find knitting on dpns or tiny circulars fiddly, and magic loop a faff, these are a great alternative. I already had some 2.5mm which I use for socks, but I needed 3.25mm for mitts. They are expensive compared to other knitting-in-the-round alternatives, but it's worth it to speed up my knitting and to preserve my sanity!
