Week 4 of the MAL, plus POPPIES!
We're on Week 4 of the MAL (said in my best Big Brother voice) and we've had at least one completed garment (Terri! - although I think Barbara might have finished now as well...). But it's not a race, so don't fret if you're a bit behind, or if in fact you haven't even started yet (or you are starting a second!).
As far as my progress goes, I'm ready to burn my crochet one in a ritualistic ceremony, but the knitting is going well...!!
This is my Cande Pullover. I think it is about to get smaller, as I think I missed a whole round out...but I need to recount when I am more awake than when I tried last time!

In a break from MAL making I've been busy making bunting for the window.
It's been a while since we had a shop window, pre-covid in fact, so we're having to build lots of our stuff up from scratch since moving to the new shop. As well as re-learn how to both dress windows, and come up with ideas!! This means that at the moment, lots of our making has been *very* last minute... hence the bunting making for a window for this Friday's change over!!

Whilst I've been making this rather fetching red, white and blue bunting (for VE Day), I've been contemplating windows coming up. In the past, we have always asked customers (and in particular our fab Craft'n'Cake ladies) to help out. Who could forget our farmyard window, complete with Janet's, um, full teated cow...?!
So now seems a good time to ask for some help - we need poppies!!

Crocheted, knitted, felted, I don't mind which. But I need LOADS. We will be putting a massive display in the shop window, as well as selling them to raise money for The Royal British Legion. I'll sew backs* on those we will be selling, as they arrive, and hopefully we'll make both an amazingly glorious window, but also raise lots of money at the same time.
So start making (great for in between big makes!) and then send me your poppies. You can either drop them in or post them in, I don't mind which. Please just make sure they're clean (I can't believe I need to ask that, but after our last big collection for something, I now really need to specify that apparently...)
Below are some links to poppy patterns from The Royal British Legion, but feel free to use your own if you have one...
They can be slightly larger than a paper poppy - it will fill the window quicker, but a good variety of sizes will be helpful. We'll pick the medium sized ones for the ones to attach pins to to sell for fundraising!

I don't mind which shade of red - as long as it is conceivably a 'poppy red' of some sort... so raid your stash, DK or Aran work best from memory when we did this several years ago (who here remembers making with me for that?!) or obviously we have red here. But stash is great - and if you have some sparkly, then go ahead! I've still got my sparkly knitted poppy from the last time :)
I'm collecting them from now, so please do start making!!
*Local volunteers for pin sewing-on very much welcome!!
Right, I'm off to sew some bunting flags together...
Mwah xx
