MAL-tastic News!!

Well, that run of blogging weekly lasted long, did't it?!

My main excuse is that the Summer Holidays happened, and lots of you will know (and if you don't I am sure you can imagine) how fun juggling running a shop, a choir and 2 small people when they are home every day can be...

...but they're back at school (Well. No, they're not. We've been plagued with sick days for both of them (which I've managed to miraculously escape!!) and they've been tag teaming being off school. But, still, some routine has been reinstated and I am full throttle planning for the Autumn/Winter season.

With that in mind, I've got a brand new MAL to tell you about! Yes, the Spring MAL was so successful (our biggest yet!) and saw so many of you joining in making crochet and knit top-down sweaters. What was really lovely, was that for so many of you, it was the first time having a go at making top-down, and the first time using try-on tubes, and using short rows in the construction of your garments. Which is exactly what these MALs are about, getting you to try new things!

Here are a selection of completed MAL sweaters!

And, um, cough, no, I haven't quite finished mine yet...

But a new MAL has begun!! (no judgement here for multiple WIPs haha!!)

So...Mosaic Shawls WOOHOOOOO!!

Once again, we are offering crochet and knit. I've picked 2 shawls for each craft, so you have a choice:

If you click on the image above, you should be able to follow the link straight to the patterns!

We've got a brand new yarn in especially for the launch of this MAL - but of course, as always, you are more than welcome to use a different yarn (we are here to help you!) or even use your stash yarns. There is never any shame here in using stash yarns - I know when you run out you'll come and support me :)

The yarn we have is actually 2 ranges, Schoppel Wolle Senior and Seniorita. Both yarns are a lush Patagonian Wool, perfect for colourwork. They are the same shades across both ranges  but the Senior is dyed on a grey base, and the Seniorita is dyed on an off-white base. So whether you want brights or more subtle deep shades, you're covered.

The yarn is a Light Fingering/3ply - we've listed it as both 3ply and 4ply on the website, as we've knitted it to 4ply with a bit of a tweak on needle size.

The best thing is that they come in cute 25g balls, so you can pick lots of different shades and still make an affordable garment! So for example, 8 balls for the El Caminito comes to £35.60!

Yarns that work really well with them are things like Hjertegarn Wool Silk, or Jawoll Silk - both are at the lighter end of 4ply/are 3ply, and the Wool Silk in particular has a similar sort of feel to it (whereas the Jawoll is a lot silkier - so it depends if you like texture changes in your work).

I'm going to make Maivember. Im a big fan of Melanie Berg's patterns (I have made the Drachenfels Shawl before, and it turned out really well). I'm going for more colours though, so will have to play around with placement...

At the time of writing this, several of the shades are out of stock (already!!) but I am hoping to have a delivery within a week or so, so if there are any shades you are particularly after, just drop me a message or email me :)

Can't wait to see all of your makes! Make sure you post in the Facebook Group with your progress.
