Yarn Shop and Tea Rooms Team Member

We are an independent yarn shop set in a beautiful 17th century barn at the heart of a busy craft centre, with a busy tea rooms attached. We are looking for a part-time member of staff to join our team. 

The role will be 2-3 days a week, and will include weekend work (Sundays required).

Whilst the job will primarily be a yarn shop role, the candidate will also need to work in the tea rooms at various times. Job descriptions for both are below.

Job role (Yarn Shop):

  • Serving customers
  • Advising customers on technical questions on the following: knitting and crochet (essential) embroidery, spinning, macramé, felting (preferable)
  • Picking and packing online orders
  • Checking off and unpacking deliveries
  • Stacking shelves and ensuring shop is neat and tidy
  • Stock taking
  • Cleaning down yarn shop and tea rooms at the end of service

Candidate must:

  • Be confident and able to communicate well with customers
  • Be able to bend and stack shelves
  • Be able to lift and carry 15kg comfortably
  • Have confident maths skills (arithmetic)
  • Have a confident telephone manner
  • Be confident with computers and touch screen tablets, and have basic word, excel and internet browser skills
  • Be able to walk up stairs with ease
  • Be available for event days and evening events - dates will be provided in advance

Desirable but not essential:

  • Confident in teaching classes
Job role (Tea Rooms):
  • Meet and greet customers and seat them
  • Take orders at the till
  • Make drinks and serve cakes (full Barista training will be given)
  • Help with pot wash as needed

 

Pay will be statutory minimum/living wage dependent upon age
