Yarn Shop and Tea Rooms Team Member
We are an independent yarn shop set in a beautiful 17th century barn at the heart of a busy craft centre, with a busy tea rooms attached. We are looking for a part-time member of staff to join our team.
The role will be 2-3 days a week, and will include weekend work (Sundays required).
Whilst the job will primarily be a yarn shop role, the candidate will also need to work in the tea rooms at various times. Job descriptions for both are below.
Job role (Yarn Shop):
- Serving customers
- Advising customers on technical questions on the following: knitting and crochet (essential) embroidery, spinning, macramé, felting (preferable)
- Picking and packing online orders
- Checking off and unpacking deliveries
- Stacking shelves and ensuring shop is neat and tidy
- Stock taking
- Cleaning down yarn shop and tea rooms at the end of service
Candidate must:
- Be confident and able to communicate well with customers
- Be able to bend and stack shelves
- Be able to lift and carry 15kg comfortably
- Have confident maths skills (arithmetic)
- Have a confident telephone manner
- Be confident with computers and touch screen tablets, and have basic word, excel and internet browser skills
- Be able to walk up stairs with ease
- Be available for event days and evening events - dates will be provided in advance
Desirable but not essential:
- Confident in teaching classes
- Meet and greet customers and seat them
- Take orders at the till
- Make drinks and serve cakes (full Barista training will be given)
- Help with pot wash as needed
Pay will be statutory minimum/living wage dependent upon age
